Job Title: Technical Project Manager


Role

The Backcountry Hut Company is growing! We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to support our core team, with a focus on sales support and customer relationship management. This role within our organization is designed to strengthen our internal and external processes, support client and collaborator relationships, and to contribute meaningfully to both the success of our team and the satisfaction of our clients.

This role is ideally suited to a process-oriented individual with demonstrated technical project management experience, keen attention to detail, and proven interpersonal skills.

The Technical Project Manager works closely with the Operations Lead and the BHC team to support successful project outcomes by contributing key elements, including:

  • Project Management, including coordinating internal and external stakeholders to achieve specific results within budget and on schedule

  • Planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling key deliverables to ensure that client-built BHC projects are successful


Responsibilities

  • Capture all details and notes of presales and the architectural services phase of the project. 

  • Track and manage project performance and schedule as they rate to 

    • Budget

    • Timeline

    • Roles and Responsibilities of the different stakeholders and the drive for execution and completion

  • Track project budgets as the project progresses and highlight and adjust for ease of financial analysis 

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other stakeholders. 

  • Identify, sequencing, assigning, monitoring and tracking individual activities, tasks and project performance

  • Scheduling workflow as per project plans as needed for project completion, meeting deadlines and the needs of internal and external customers. 

  • Keep track of all projects in the pipeline and coordinate with clients, manufacturing, the architect team, builders and other stakeholders. 

  • Manage customer relationships after the transition from sales to an architectural services engagement. 

  • Evaluate existing processes and systems and figure out ways for continual improvement

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation with the architectural team

  • Able to work with a dynamic small team and assist where and when asked, that is outside the normal responsibilities of a Project Manager. 

  • Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency or to develop new skills

  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within the scope and budget

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation

  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques 

  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks

  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

  • Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project

  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals

  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis

  • Help develop and expand on the client-facing and internal documentation of the company, including such documents as:

    • BHC Process

    • BHC Assembly Guides

    • BHC Drawing Packages

    • BHC Project Book

    • BHC Client Assistance Documents


Skills + Experience

  • Team Player

  • Calm and Positive Attitude

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a project manager or in other roles in the construction industry

  • Bachelor's Degree or Technical Degree specific to this Role

  • Schooling in architecture, project management, or building

  • Experience in residential construction projects

  • Experience with process improvement 

  • Advanced time management and analytical skills

  • Solid skills in:

    • Google Suite (Gmail/Sheet/Doc)

    • Microsoft Suite (project/outlook/excel/word)

    • Click-Up or project management tools

    • Pipedrive or CRM tools

    • Slack


Organizational Relationship

The project manager reports directly to the co-founders of The Backcountry Hut Company and works with the operations lead, architectural technologist, and other partners to progress each project to completion.

The ideal candidate will be interested in working dynamically and be able to assist with additional responsibilities to support successful project outcomes and business objectives.

Compensation commensurate with experience. We offer a competitive salary, benefits, vacation time, and a flexible work environment. We are based in Vancouver and our team works remotely. Applicants based in and eligible to work in Canada will be considered.

Salary Range

$65,000-$75,000 + based on demonstrated experience and alignment.
